 On behalf of the faculty and staff, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the web page of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The CEE Department is committed to maintaining a strong academic curriculum relevant to all civil engineering sub-disciplines at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Our motivated faculty constantly strive to improve the education and research programs in order to assist students to build the needed skills to meet the challenges of a professional engineering career. Indeed, our graduates have developed successful careers, providing leadership throughout the state, region, and nation.
Although a young department, we have grown dramatically over the past several years by attracting outstanding faculty, research staff, and students; and by expanding sponsored research programs. The undergraduate and graduate programs are constantly revised, improved, and strengthened in order to reflect the growth in information technology; and the industrial and societal needs with respect to creative thinking, interdisciplinary knowledge and team work. In addition to strong academic curriculum and research programs, our civil engineering students greatly benefit from available opportunities for internship, co-op programs, and practical training experiences which provide a stepping stone to their professional careers. The CEE Department has close ties with the local professional community and benefits from an active advisory board. Without a doubt, these interactions result in an enriched academic experience and improved career opportunities for our students.
